Jack has

Used NONEL dets and shock tubes

Used safety fuse and caps

Used Magnadets

Used 50 tonnes of explosives in a single throw blast

Used 7 kilometres of detonating cord in a single blast

Used NONEL with up to 500m/s in sequential delays

JamaicaSt Kitts

 

Jack designed, and through Sureshot, supplied these explosives stores (magazines). These were for the military and replaced the existing very dilapidated stores.

He also destroyed some rotten gelignite.

Jack has blasted in;

England

Falkland Islands

Jamaica

Malawi

Montserrat

Tanzania

Zambia

And consulted in very many other countries.

 

The picture on the left was taken in 1985 when Jack was much younger, thinner and had dark hair.

 

It shows him setting up a single throw blast at Maamba using about 50 tonnes of ANFO.

 

The blast was very successful and was thereafter repeated many times in this Zambian coal mine.

Explosives

 

The picture on the right shows one of Jack’s big blasts in Maamba and the one on the left at Chilanga (notice the lift!).

 

Jack is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Explosives Engineers.

 

Jack also works with other less user friendly types of explosives.

 

The picture on the right shows Jack taking some “Wombat” rounds off to a safe place to initiate them, they went with a surprisingly loud bang.

In 2002, Jack provided EPIC, the UK examining body with a completely new series of examination papers.
